September 2009 Archives

Any day is a great day to flash a beautiful smile. You don’t have to be a movie star to have your teeth straightened before a special occasion in Medford or Port Jefferson NY.  Everyone wants to look good for their prom, senior pictures, graduation, applying for a job or like Kathryn Heigl… getting married.

That’s right! Kathryn Heigl never worried about her teeth not being straight until she decided to get married.  What was the easiest and least emotionally traumatic solution for someone who is in the spotlight and can’t be seen wearing braces… Invisalign!  At Coolsmiles, we offer teens and adults the braceless alternative to having the beautiful smile you always wanted.

If you have been thinking about straightening your teeth, contact our office for a complimentary appointment to find out how easy it is to accomplish this with Invisalign.  We see every patient in our office as a celebrity and look forward to discussing orthodontic treatment options with you.

See what Kathryn Heigl has to say about Invisalign on YouTube…   Leave a comment below and tell us what impact you think a smile has on our day to day lives.  As a consumer, we are interested in your opinion.

We want to thank all our patients from the Medford NY and Port Jefferson NY offices who attended our Coolsmiles Picnic at Hoyt Farm on 9/6/09.

Without our patients and their kinds words of recommendations to family and friends, we wouldn’t be able to create beautiful smiles throughout the Long Island area.  The weather was great!  For more details on the event… click here

Check out some of our guest who attended the picnic!  If you attended, let us know what you enjoyed most at the picnic…

Some Happy Attendees at Coolsmiles 2009 Picnic at Hoyt Farm

There are many different types of toothbrushes to choose from and each brush has a different type of bristle! When buying a toothbrush, everyone here at Coolsmiles thinks you should know the bristles are your number one priority…  then consider color, shape, and all the whistles and bells manufacturers use to lure you to buy their product.

There are generally three different types of bristles; hard, medium, and soft. We always recommend our patients, especially children and seniors, use a soft bristled toothbrush.  This is true for a hand held as well as an electric toothbrush. Why?  Because using a hard and medium bristled brush can cause problems with your teeth and gums.  If the bristles are too hard, they can wear away the enamel on your teeth and irritate the gums so they become red and sore.  Over a period of time, the wrong bristle can even cause your gums to recede.
